Position Paper 4: Wild Card

Street Food of the World            When learning about a new place in the world I always enjoy learning about the popular food in that area. Lots of times the most popular dishes have interesting backstories that go beyond just surface level. So, when I came across a new line of shows on Netflix about the popular street foods in various parts of the world I was instantly intrigued. It was not my first time hearing the term street food, since I follow a Youtuber by the name of Mark Wiens on YouTube who makes a living traveling and trying street food from all over the world. Initially, Netflix released Street Food: Asia and a year later released Street Food: Latin America. Having access to television programming that allows me to learn and connect with cultures outside of my own is beneficial.           Street Food: Asia debuted via Netflix in the Spring of 2019 and was received. Position Paper 2: Digital Access

Digital Access in Nigeria            To have lived in a country like the United States all my life has afforded me access to various means of communication since I began my educational journey in grade school. I remember having computer courses as early as age six and being able to play educational games and being ranked against other children my age from all over the country.  However, that is not a reality for everyone across the globe, some have expressed digitalization later in life or have yet to. It was founded in 1996 as a singular project, but by the year 2000it was expanded to encompass many projects, to help women and youth get digital accessibility and use tec...

Position Paper 1: News & Information

Being from a country such as the United States, it can be easy to take for granted some of the freedoms that I am afforded, the Freedom of Speech being one of those. Journalists and citizens in other places around the world are being persecuted and isolated for using their voices. They speak against governments or injustices being done to the people in that region. In order to learn more information about international media outlets, I am analyzing a newspaper out of South Korea. In 1953 The Korea Herald was founded in Seoul, South Korea, and this daily newspaper is one of the leading English-language papers in the country. The journalism staff is composed of Korean writers and other international writers.           The government of South Korea is a unitary state with a centralized democratic republic. For many years South Korea has ranked as one of the freest countries in Asia as it pertains to freedom of s...
